Carbo,Corbo, Corbe', Corb Genealogy

My name is Adam Traub from Lake Charles.  I have been researching my family genealogy for some time now and I still have some questions.  Maybe yall can help me?  I am researching my Mother's Dad's family-Adam V. Corb -married Ethelene Hughes (Corbe', Corbo, Carbo)-He was baptized a Corbe', and the current spelling is Corb, but he was a descendant of the Carbos/Corbos.  He was born in Plattenville in 1923.  His father was  Adam J. Corbe' who married Corinne Romagos.  His father was Antoine/Antonio Corbo who married Fedora Lalonde.  I am not exactly sure who the next father is but I believe he is also an Antoine (maybe a Antoine Francois or Francois Antoine) (according to Diocese of Baton Rouge) and married Augustine Falcon.  What is so confusing is that the Diocese books state that another Corbo married Augustine Falcon-It states that Francois/Francisco married Augustine.  I beleive what happened was that a Antoine Francois or a Francois Antoine married her and the records used different parts of the name for different events.   After that I am pretty sure Jose'(f) who married  Maria Ravelo and then Francisco (the father that came from the Canary Islands) who married a Andrea Ruiz are the next two fathers in the line.  Anyway, if there is any light you can shed, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

My name is Layne and I don't have any Carbo's in my lineage, but I am willing to give you a second set of eyes to look at the Diocese books.  Can you give me some specifics about the different people that you see married to Augustine Falcon?  I took a quick look, and I see:

Joseph Corbo and Maria Ravela (you can pick up all the children in the Diocese Books, but this also ties the family together}
Children: Francois Antoine (1808), Bernard Augustin Corbo (1813) - probably the uncle Augustin as the sponsor for Francois Antoine Carbo (1835),

Francois Corbo (son of Joseph and Maria Ravela) and Augustina Falcon - Marriage (1830)

Francisco and Augustina Falcon(e)
Children: Francoise (1831), Antonio (1833), Francois Antoine (1835), Marie Carmelite Rufine (1837), Ysabel (1839), Marie Narcisse (1848)

Francisco Corbo and Augustina Falcona - at birth of Ysabel (1839)
Poncho Corbo and Augustine Falcon - at Marriage of daughter Isabelle(1860)
Antoine Carbe and Augustine Falcon - at Marriage of son Antoine to Fedora Lolan (1862)
Francisco Corbo and Agustina Falcon - at Marriage of daughter Carmelite

Although I see different names, if you put the whole family together it appears that they come together.  I hope some of this works for you, but will look at any contradictions that you see or have.  The next possibility for you is to track the deaths and see if you can find wills/successions that may list family members.

Hi, from Canary Islands....
I am a spaniard, I was living in USA, and I know the use of names here...but it is not very authomatic for my mind, lol!

So, I can not help you a lot about the subject, but, I can in this:

Note that PANCHO (and PACO, too), in Spanish, is equivalent to FRANCISCO; like in USA Jim for James....

So, Francisco Corb and Pancho Corb must be the same person.

(And Ysabela and Isabelle, the same, sure...)

Bye

Hi, my name is Wade Falcon.  I work extensively with the Falcon surname in Louisiana, which includes Maria Candelaria Augustina Falcon married to Francois Antoine Carbo.

"I beleive what happened was that a Antoine Francois or a Francois Antoine married her and the records used different parts of the name for different events."

In addition to Layne's research, keep in mind different parts of different names were used.  This is extremely common when using the DoBR records.  Sometimes the full name is listed.  Other times, only the middle name or only the first name.  Of course, this makes tracking family trees somewhat difficult.  However, you are on the right track and your statement is true.  According to the records, and census, Antoine Francois and Francois Antoine are the same person.  He was married to Maria Candelaria Augustina Falcon.  Augustina Falcon was married twice:
 - m.Francois Antoine Carbo (10 May 1830, Donaldsonville, AP, LA: DoBR, v7 p39)
 - m.Francois Pastor (3 may 1841, Donaldsonville, AP, LA: DoBR, v10 p96)

"After that I am pretty sure Jose'(f) who married  Maria Ravelo and then Francisco (the father that came from the Canary Islands) who married a Andrea Ruiz are the next two fathers in the line."
See Layne's listings.  The following is what I have:

Miguel Gonzales Carbo - Feliciana Francisca Cocina
 - Juan Francisco Gonzales Carbo (b.1732, San Juan de la Rambla, Tenerife, CI - d.31 Aug 1817, Donaldsonville, AP, LA) m. Andrea Augustina Ruiz (b.1731)
 - - Jose Gonzales Carbo (b.1769) m. Maria Ravello (b.1774 - d.18 Sep 1835, Donaldsonville, AP, LA)
 - - - Francois Antoine Carbo

I hope this helps.  If you need more information on the Falcon side, let me know. I've got it going back to 1508 in Spain.
WF

Thanks for the help.  I think I have it figured out.  Antoine Fracois (Poncho) Corbo married Augustine(a) Falcon but the names and nicknmaes were used interchangeably and caused confusion.
