Hi,

It's my understanding that my father's family is descended from the Islanders. Hi father's name was Nicholas Caballero and his mother's name was mother's name was Bernadette Diaz. My father was born in Donaldsonville, about 1916. Does anyone have any information to share?

Both the Diaz name and the Caballero name are Canary Island Spanish in origin.  Several families came to Louisiana with these surnames.

Do you have a facebook profile? If you don't set one up. There is a group there for Caballeros. You can learn about your Sephardic history. There is a pretty big group and I'm sure a wealth of information to share.
